Online Humanities
This web site has been five years in the making and is a collaborative effort of invited guests who have spoken in my Ethics, Music, Philosophy, and Religion classes. My initial goal was to supplement “classroom” material. Within a few years of classroom teaching, I was in the online teaching environment. About 3 years ago, I made available and mailed a CD guest package to students which greatly improved class discussion and interest. Now, with the click of a button, you can download and in minutes guest speakers will stream into your home.

For those who have Windows Media Player or Quick Time select the guest, click on the video icon, and your computer does the rest! [If you have an older computer, open your Windows Player or Quick Time first.] In the future, you will see more audio buttons, slide presentations, and notes.

Downloading 52 MB on DSL at 128 bits takes about 6 minutes. Dial-up will be slower.

Many of the videos are less than perfect and certainly not professional in any way. My interest in providing the material is to share information in a “down home “classroom setting.

Finally, I want to thank you for taking my class. I am honored to have you!

Guest Speakers & Musicians

The guest speakers and musicians live in the Springfield MO area. The opinions shared are their own and not necessarily the opinion of myself, Susan Phillips. Each music, religion, or philosophy guest has a rich musical background or spiritual tradition which was shared from their heart. If you would like to contact any of the guests, click on the link General Questions, and drop me a note.

Susan Phillips Bio

After I left home, I joined the Air Force and was stationed at Mather AFB in California [just outside Sacramento]. I was a dental specialist for four years, which went by quickly. In 1976, I was discharged and I went to college at Sacramento State University. My undergrad degree was Psychology.

Like most people, I have had several interesting jobs. I worked in the gasoline and convenience store business for about 15 years. I had several territories in California and Nevada. My largest territory was Reno to Carson City NV. I had 14 AM/PM stores that grossed about 1.7 million a year. Perhaps you have heard of ARCO or Atlantic Richfield? I was an area supervisor assisting the franchise store operators and a liaison to the main office. I did everything thing from A to Z to help store sales and their operators bottom line.

In 1993, I moved to Minneapolis MN and pursued more education and graduated from United Theological Seminary [United Church of Christ Seminary]. After graduating, I moved to Springfield to pastor a church and by 2000, I began teaching Philosophy at OTC. Within a few years I have taught, Western Civilization, Music of the World, Women in Philosophy and Religion, Ethics, and World Religion. I also teach for Phoenix University and Axia College of Western University.

Well that is about all for now. If you are interested in more information: go to my website at www.healingspring.us
